COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT BALLOT

The vast majority of the 500,000 public sector employees who had to vote on the collective agreement in 2008 had the option of doing so electronically. There is a great deal of talk about digital solutions in the public and semi-public sectors and this is a concrete example of how all types of media were used. Most unions still offered their members the chance to vote by postal ballot, but in addition, they could use the internet, the telephone (voice response) or text messaging.
High participation rate - and great service
Telecom Scandinavia was behind the development of the digital media while Strålfors provided the data basis and the paper solution. The ballot organisers wanted to achieve the highest level of participation possible which in turn succeeded in getting, for instance, BUL, FOA and HK STAT to expand their voting options to include various digital media. At the same time, it provided a good members' service for the various organisations.
A secure and easily accessible solution
The solution ensures that individuals cannot vote more than once, even if a pertinacious member was to try and vote via both ballot paper and text message. Furthermore, the method was rubber-stamped by Deloitte. The same solution is offered for elections to committees of representatives, delegations, company boards and senior citizens' councils.
