METER READING BY IVR, TEXT MESSAGING AND WEB
A system that reduces the number of working hours used
Previously it was really expensive in terms of working hours to contact citizens if their meter reading deviated from the expected. Often, the administrative department did not even have the citizen's telephone number and spent a lot of precious time looking for it before they could ring him/her up.
Previously it was really expensive in terms of working hours to contact citizens if their meter reading deviated from the expected. Often, the administrative department did not even have the citizen's telephone number and spent a lot of precious time looking for it before they could ring him/her up.
Now it is possible to reduce the number of working hours consumed using one or
more of Telecom Scandinavia's solutions. The new product, Voice Box Mail gives
the citizen the opportunity to record messages for the administration
department, for example, and which can be linked to the same IVR service used
for the meter reading itself.
IVR with or without Voice Box Mail
If the citizen's meter reading deviates from the expected reading, he/she is urged to record their explanation for the deviation immediately after reporting the meter reading. The system continually sends the citizen's recordings to administration via e-mail. The e-mail contains information such as the customer number and the telephone number and also the audio file with the customer's explanation. In most cases, this information is sufficient for administration to release the meter reading into the payment system without having to contact the citizen.

Text messaging and the Internet
The citizen also has the option of submitting their meter reading by text message or via the internet, in combination with a deviation check, if necessary. The internet module can also be combined with an e-mail to administration whereby the citizen can give a written explanation of the deviation and inform administration of his/her telephone number.

Effekt
Meter reading via IVR, text messaging and the internet are good examples of digital administration at its best: It makes for better service and increased accessibility for the citizen, as well as a considerable reduction in manual work for the administration department.
